It begins with an idea.
Meet the Jewler
Nate started taking small metal art classes in 2018 from Cabrillo College. In 2021 he took his first enameling class and became enamored with cloisonné. Two years later he started designing bespoke pieces for clients and did his first show the following year. He has had the privilege of learning from several amazing cloisonné artists and continues to learn and grow with every piece he creates.
The Process
Every piece begins with hand drawn designs in ink, watercolors and colored pencil. Once the design is finalized color selection begins, after which a shape and blank is created, fine silver or 24k gold wires are bent to match the design. The wires create the framework that is than filled in one layer at a time with glass and fired at up to 1450 degrees F. Once the all the layers have been filled and fired the piece is ground and polished and set in sterling silver and sometimes accented with gemstones.
