Nicholas Chopp has been shooting still photographs professionally for four years. Nearly all types of photography interest him, and he emphasizes in the photojournalistic style of photography. While many traditional photographers create poses and try to “coax” emotion from their subjects, Nicholas takes a more observational stance - he relies on his experience in sports photography and photojournalism to catch the emotions of his subject as they occur; not trying to “recreate” them afterwards. This extends to portraiture as well as wedding photography.

All photography is shot on state of the art digital equipment, which allows Nicholas the freedom he needs to quickly and effectively shoot without worrying about changing rolls of film, bad rolls, or color balance issues. An average wedding totals to around 2,000 individual images. All of these images are immediately backed up to a laptop computer and DVD media for safety purposes, and the DVD is stored at a secure offsite location. The images are of a sufficient resolution to allow prints up to 24x36” in perfect clarity.

Prints are from White House Custom Color, based in St. Paul, Minnesota. They are printed in medium format Delta printers on Fuji Crystal Archival paper, with a life of 95 years. Fuji Crystal is an excellent all-purpose paper - it serves well for portraiture, wedding, scenic, and sports subjects. This is the same paper used for high-quality chemical film prints, and suffers none of the same quality drawbacks as experienced with most digital prints. Print sizes of 50” wide and unlimited length are possible. Kodak Metallic paper is also available. The Kodak Metallic line works especially well for portraiture work - it reproduces skin tones in a very unique and attractive manner.
